Organizing Our Thoughts

When everything starts piling up at once, it’s easy for our minds to feel cluttered and our energy to feel scattered. Whether we’re juggling connections, business, goals, or our emotions—it helps to take things one breath, task, and day at a time.

Organizing our thoughts isn’t about perfection, but creating peace, even in the midst of chaos; especially in the midst of chaos.

Slow it down. Write it out. See it in complete. Make it real by putting it in the physical. Break it down. Overcome it.

Here’s a step-by-step guide that helps me clear my mind and organize what matters most:

Do a Brain Dump

Take 15-30 minutes, grab a notebook, and write down everything on your mind. No structure; no order — just pour it out:

  • Work

  • Personal Goals

  • Bills or errands

  • Thoughts/emotions

  • Things to-do.

This gets it out of our minds and into a space where we can actually manage it.

Group Into Categories

After dumping everything, we can then start grouping our list into main areas:

  • Business/ Work

  • Personal Life/ Self-Care

  • Home/ Errands

  • Money/ Finances

  • Spiritual/ Emotional

Now we have clearer sections instead of one big, messy mental pile.

Pick 3 Priorities Per Day

We can’t do everything in one day — and we don’t need to.

Each day, I try to pick at least 3 priorities from different categories. That could look like:

  • Send proposal to client (Business)

  • Tidy room (Home)

  • Journal for 10-15 mins (Self-Care)

Even small progress in different areas helps us feel in control again.

Use a Weekly Planner

Using a physical planner, journal, a whiteboard, or a simple notes app is another tool I like to do for maintaining organization.

Set it up like this:

  • Monday–Friday layout

  • Add your top 3 priorities per day

  • Leave space for extra tasks if you have energy

  • Include blocks for rest or fun — we deserve it

Check In With Ourselves Weekly

Every Sunday or Monday morning, I feel its best take 15-60 minutes to meditate, spend time and ask ourselves:

  • What’s urgent?

  • What can wait?

  • What do we need emotionally or spiritually this week?

It’s like giving our brains and heart a reset.

Through it all, show yourself grace. We got this.
