Behind The Art Of It All
Dr. Lee Zimmerman
artist, master silk painter, PhD
From the moment I laid eyes on his artwork, it wasn't surprising why I was instantly captivated by his paintings and creativity—it simply resonated.
Meet Dr. Lee Zimmerman, a master silk painter and artist residing in Minnesota. Holding a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, Dr. Zimmerman has authored numerous articles spanning computer science, engineering, experimental psychology, and art.
His influence extends beyond academia, serving as the primary advisor for Ph.D. students in three diverse departments: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Psychology. Awarded a patent for a series of color motion tests, he has seamlessly transitioned between roles as both a graduate student and faculty member.
Yet, beyond his illustrious career, Dr. Zimmerman is an exceptional artist, garnering widespread support for his pen and ink drawings, expertise, and skill. His art speaks volumes, and it's no surprise that he maintains such a dedicated following.
What sets his work apart is the simplicity in his line work, coupled with its profound ability to express itself and evoke emotions. This quality intrigued me most, and it was evident from our initial interaction in 2012 that he was not only kind and professional but also remarkably personable.
We quickly discovered a common passion for our artistic endeavors and naturally began cultivating a connection. Thus, Dr. Lee Zimmerman would effortlessly become one of my favorite artists and the illustrator behind P.S. Love, Nina❀.
