Reclaiming Self

Reclaiming ourselves, to me, is an act of quiet revolution. It’s a state where we rid of any negative narratives that we, and or others have built around who we are, and taking the intentional steps into the power of our own truth.

Replacing negative thoughts and things we’ve decided about ourselves. Knowing we are endlessly creating ourselves and cannot always see the big picture in it’s severity & recognizing when our thoughts are not aligned with Gods truth and to turn away from them. I once read,

It’s important to be immune to criticism and flattery,

a quote that stuck with me. Meaning, the way that others perceive us doesn’t change who we truly are. Understanding that our personal experiences help shape the way we see things, ourselves and others. Hence, the importance of truly knowing ourselves so that we aren’t easily moved by the rejection or validation of others.

Although, I do believe it’s okay to take the perceptions that others may have of us into consideration, so that we may use it as a mirror. For us, never to. It’s peeling away the layers of expectations and rediscovering the essence of who we are—unapologetically.

In reclaiming ourselves, we’re able to acknowledge the journey and experiences that have shaped us, but still refusing to not be defined by the shadows of our past. Instead, we embrace the light of our potential, reclaiming the narrative, rewriting our personal stories with each breath, each choice, until our life becomes a testament of our resilience, courage, and our unwavering commitment to our true selves.

Remembering our true purpose.
