In This New Season

Today isn’t just another “today”, but the first of the clean pages of another year that we’ve been granted.

No matter how we’ve decided to end and or enter this new season, we can, at any moment take the time to recreate ourselves. We can advocate against the things that no longer align with who we are. We can literally heal ourselves from anything. Nothing is permanent and we are not stuck. We can advocate against things we no longer resonate with, like completely recreate ourselves. Think new thoughts, learn and unlearn, outgrow people, careers, lifestyles, etc., and change our perspectives completely. All that matters is once we decide, we can, and will at any point, not just today on January 1st.

We can decide to create better habits for ourselves, set firmer boundaries, and be kinder to one another, ourselves included. So what is it that we’re saying repeatedly over to ourselves throughout our days, and for this coming year? How are we deciding to create better habits? What grace will we show others, and ourselves in this season? Let’s start by affirming —

"I AM stepping into one of the happiest years of my life. May I find the strength to let go of what no longer serves me and the courage to maintain a peaceful state of mind while creating space for what lies ahead, expressing gratitude for what is." ❀

Like anything worthwhile, the pursuit of new beginnings doesn't yield instant gratification. The initial steps aren't a sprint but rather a steady progression. Similar to any season, the pressure to keep up with the seasoned ones can be overwhelming. However, the reality is that some of the most significant strides are not always the initial ones. We must acknowledge that our visibility and impact on others are not solely determined by our pace but by the timing that aligns with divine intervention. In understanding this, we release our preconceived notions about how things should unfold, acknowledging that we may not always comprehend the full picture. Letting go of the need to control everything allows us to connect more authentically with the world, making space for what is truly meant for us and maintaining an open mind.

“The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”

~ Fabienne Fredrickson

In this upcoming year, there will be steps to celebrate, moments of fear, and uncertainty, unlearning and learning by experiences, success, and failure. But in each, I encourage us to be present, to rise despite of, and to understand that any given situation can bring us love, understanding, and clarity - if we decide to look at it as such. Personally, I want to allow myself to be myself and to have more patience with my entire human experience. I encourage us all to reside in grace, and to be happy in our current positions, yet while maintaining gratitude for the experiences and people who contributed to our current selves, knowing there are so many beautiful moments, opportunities, and connections ahead.

Happy new year ❀
